Anniversary marked at Wowan

WHAT better way to spend a 50th Anniversary than two days on the golf course?

That was what happened at Wowan as the club celebrated its Golden Anniversary with two days of golf, with a little refreshment in between.

The serious side of the proceedings was held on the Saturday but following that club members and guests partied into the night.

Past members of the Wowan Golf Club came “home” to party.

To complete the Wowan celebrations golfers from clubs around the region travelled to the township and share the “birthday”.

“Club members are very proud of their small country golf club and acknowledge the work put in by past members,” said Donna Reynolds on behalf of Wowan members.

As in any event there has to be winners and in the Saturday Ambrose competition they were Darren Hock, Brian Hock and Mick O'Shea.

Runner-up was tied between Mark Collins, Rhonda Collins and John Weber and the team of Lance Antcliff, Tamika Antcliff & Shai Pearce.

Encouragement award went Gurney Clamp, Jim Bourke & Kev Bierton.

Pinshots were won by the Myles, Brown, “Jarvo”, Collins, Vickers, Bond, L-B teams

Sunday's Ambrose competition was won by Terry Vickers, John Weber & Ben Olsen

Pinshots won by J Russell & K Brown, P Hinchliffe & N Ferrier, J Weber, T Vickers & B Olsen.
