Another man's car in the driveway on Valentine's Day

A CENTRAL Queensland miner returned home early on Valentine's Day to surprise his long-term partner, but he was the one who was surprised.

When he arrived, he found another man's vehicle parked in the driveway of his Gracemere residence.

The miner had his suspicions about who drove the car and why they were visiting, which turned out to be accurate and led to his partner facing court for contravening a domestic violence order and possessing marijuana.

The mother of two pleaded guilty to the counts in Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday.

Police prosecutor Julie Marsden said police were called to the residence at 9.15am on February 14 for a domestic violence matter, and found two young children on the footpath and neighbours in the street.

She said the defendant was yelling abuse at the victim and the victim was asking her to calm down.

Ms Marsden said when police spoke to them, the victim said he had arrived home early as a surprise and found a suspected drug dealer's vehicle parked outside.

She said the victim knocked on the door and when he was inside, he told the male visitor to leave before discovering marijuana stashed in a cupboard.

Ms Marsden said during the argument the pair had prior to police arriving, the defendant pushed the victim and punched him in the back.

Defence lawyer Allan Grant said the pair have separated and his client, 24, was now living with her father and in contact with Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Services.

The court heard the woman had been fined with no conviction recorded for possessing marijuana in January 2019.

The woman was fined $1000 and no convictions were recorded.
