$100,000 bonanza

ROCKHAMPTON'S Ray Hollingsworth bought the $100,000 winning Golden Casket ticket.

But, he's only $500 richer.

Mr Hollingsworth gave the winning ticket to a workman who did him a small favour.

Yesterday after a hard day's work the happy-golucky CQ Crane Hire employee said the man popped around to his house recently and handed him a $500 cheque.

Mr Hollingsworth, who didn't contact The Morning Bulletin and was reluctant to speak to the paper, said the win had been a big talking point among colleagues.

"I don't want people to think I've gone and spoke to the paper because I didn't get half,'' Mr Hollingsworth said. "That's not the case.''

Instead, others contacted the paper.

The Morning Bulletin spoke with a handful of city bar workers yesterday.

Most thought Mr Hollingsworth should have been given more, up to half.

"I suppose I would be looking at giving half myself,'' John Challis from Jimmy's Inn on Lakes Creek Road said.

"It was a good-hearted thing of him to do and it's nice to repay that.''

The winning ticket was drawn on Sunday, July 1 and bought from the Archer Park Newsagency.
