A challenge from silly mid-off

THE FIRST shots have been fired in the annual Sea FM versus Central Comets pre-season indoor cricket challenge, which hits Rockhampton's Indoor Sports Arena tonight.

"If they can turn this game around they can turn around their season,'' Sea FM's Paul "Blunty'' Blunt said yesterday.

The Comets tasted defeat in last year's inaugural showdown, which Sea FM's self-proclaimed captain Daniel "Smithy'' Smith believes played a major role in their demise on the rugby league field.

"We started off all their thrashings,'' said Smithy, who is under an injury cloud after dropping a Blunty bomb at yesterday's photo shoot.

However, the Comets are taking this year's contest more seriously, with team selection coming down to the wire at training this week.

"We believe the Comets have recruited more for this game than they have for their football team,'' Blunty said.

Tonight's showdown starts at 6pm and is open to the public.
