Accused in court over stabbing

A WOMAN who allegedly stabbed a man twice with a serrated steak knife was released on bail yesterday.

Francis Margaret Oram, 45, Brighton Street, North Rockhampton appeared in Rockhampton Magistrates Court, yesterday charged with the unlawful wounding of a 48-year-old man on June 29.

The court was told yesterday Oram would receive bail on the condition she stayed away from Menzies Street, Park Avenue, where the man lived.

In the back of the court, Oram's sister sat patiently waiting.

Oram, with her arms folded, sat quietly in the dock.

Police said Oram and the man had been in a de-facto relationship prior to the alleged attack.

Oram was arrested two days ago after allegedly stabbing the man twice, in Bolsover Street, Rockhampton.

She was remanded in custody last night.

Criminal Investigation Bureau plainclothes Constable Brendan Davis said the man received wounds to the upper-rear of his left leg and the other to his back near his left shoulder blade.

He was taken to Rockhampton Hospital shortly after attending the police station.

Oram is expected to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court for committal mention on August 22.
