Agent?s ability no longer secret

THE domination of lightweight winners of the $25,500 Rocky Amateurs Bracelet (1200m) continued at Callaghan Park yesterday when Mackay galloper Our Secret Agent claimed the prize.

Carrying the minimum of just 54kg, jockey Justin Stanley was able to settle Our Secret Agent ($11) just behind leader The Falcon before claiming the lead 150 metres from the finish.

From there the Lyle Wright trained sprinter held off favourite Bouverie's Jest ($3) to draw away for a 3/4-length win.

Oakey veteran Fires Of Ireland ($16, Mark Dale) ran of for third just edging out Joe Dirt.

A partnership comprising Rockhampton's Barry and Sam Gregson and Wayne Twigg cheered loudest when their talented mare Milady Clang ($2.90) won the $22,200 The Morning Bulletin Class 4 (1300m).

A handicapping "certainty'' through apprentice Chris McIver's 3kg claim, Milady Clang carried the minimum with finesse to beat outsider That's Paleface ($15).

Plagued by problems, Barry Gregson said the owners almost despaired of Milady Clang who failed to reach the reserve when offered at a Gold Coast sale.

"Her trainer here Alan Jones is the best chiropractor and now has her going great,'' Gregson said.

Jones was again "top shelf'' when Mourvedre, raced by Geoff and Kathy Elliott of Glenmore Village Family Meats, cut-up bookmakers by winning the Class 2 (1300m).

The best betting firmer on the seven-race card, Mourvedre ($7.00 to $3.50) responded to Toowoomba jockey Kenji Yoshida to slice through and beat Ididit My Way by a head.

Barcaldine trainer Todd Austin's eight hours float trip and costly fuel bill was worthwhile after his Royal Reform ($2.80) and Samurai Spirit ($4.40) provided him his first Rockhampton double.
