Alberts runs on for Sharks

FORMER Manly Sea Eagles flyer Ashley Alberts is set to continue his surprise comeback to rugby league for Fitzroy Gracemere this weekend.

Alberts, who returned to Rockhampton earlier this month after walking out on a two-year deal with the NRL club, will line up in the centres for the Sharks against Rockhampton Brothers at Saleyards Park on Sunday.

The former Australian schoolboys' star made an encouraging return from a knee injury in Fitzroy Gracemere's impressive 48-20 win over Yeppoon in their round three Rockhampton Local League clash last weekend.

"He's pretty excited to be back,'' Sharks player-coach Rex Gamble said of his prized recruit.

"He's enjoying being back home and anyone of his calibre is a bonus for the club.''

At Yeppoon's Webb Oval on Sunday, a determined Seagulls outfit are chasing their first win of the season against premiers CQU Norths Chargers.

In Gladstone, Wallabys face Tannum Sands and Gladstone Brothers tackle Valleys in a round five Gladstone Local league double-header at Marley Brown Oval on Sunday.
