Alice wondering about $19m win

ALICE Birse believes she has the winning formula.

She has been buying lotto tickets "ever since it started'', using the birthdates of her husband and family.

Mrs Birse hopes to spend the money on family and friends and, perhaps, buy herself that single-level home she has been dreaming of.

Yesterday she increased her chances of winning tonight's $19 million Gold Lotto by not only playing her regular numbers, but also by grabbing a Mega Quickpick just in case.

All she has to do now is wait for that life-changing phone call ... well, that is the theory anyway.

Mrs Birse said that while she had been playing for years, the most she had ever won was $1000.

Archer Park News owner Lyndal Della-Bosca said residents had been steadily buying tickets for the past week.

She said her newsagency was more than overdue for its next winner: "It's been a long time between drinks for division one. It's been circling around us. You never know where the eagle will land.
