All-local affair in semi-final tennis

ROCKHAMPTON tennis fans are guaranteed one finalist and there could be more at the Head Queensland State Age Championships, which continues at Victoria Park today.

Leading Rockhampton junior stars Jessica Perry-Egerton and Danielle Parsons clash in a 16 years and under girls' semi-final showdown this morning.

Both players are set to deliver another close contest in front of their home crowd after cruising through the preliminary rounds.

Caboolture's Kristy Sinclair Brisbane's Cassie Dowling meet in the other semi-final.

In the 14 years and under girls' title race, Rebecca Cook is the last Rockhampton player standing.

Cook will play Maleny's Alice Watter in today's semi-finals. Rockhampton's Reagan Brown is also through to the semi-final stage in the 10 years and under boys' singles.

Brown will take on Maleny's Henry Watter, while Gladstone's Dayle Mitchell meets Brisbane's Ashleigh Barty in the 10 years and under girls' semi-finals.

Fellow Central Queensland junior representative, Gin Gin's Sam Jensen, has lived up to his No.1 seeding.

Jensen will start favourite in his 14 years and under boys' semi-final against Sunshine Coast's Blake Sweeney.

Doubles and mixed doubles action also continues today.

This year's championships have attracted 270 players from as far away as Western Australia and South Australia chasing major national points in their age groups.

Today's matches start from 8am. The championship finals hit the court tomorrow.
