Alleged child rapist back on streets

A MAN charged with the rape and indecent dealing of five children as young as three has been released on bail in Rockhampton.

The 33-year-old Park Avenue man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is alleged to have first assaulted the children in 2001.

It is alleged the assaults occurred in Yeppoon from 2001 to 2002 and as recently as February 4 this year.

He has been charged with 13 counts of indecent dealing and one of rape.

The children were aged three to nine at the time of the first offence, but are now aged between eight and 14.

The age of the rape victim has not yet been released.

While police could not confirm if the children were related to the man, it is believed both male and female children were involved.

The man was released under strict bail conditions.

He is expected to appear at the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on February 28.
