Armed with new skills

? ROCKHAMPTON cricketer Ashley Heberlein is ready to put some newly acquired skills into practise when Rockhampton Junior Cricket fixtures resume this weekend.

Heberlein returns to the field for the Brothers under-13 team.

During the school holidays Heberlein attended a Queensland Cricket emerging players squad camp at Brisbane's Allan Border Field which focused on fitness and fielding drills.

"Hopefully my fielding will be better,'' Heberlein said.

It was his bowling for the Capricornia schoolboys team which warranted an invitation.

During that carnival his 50 overs produced 10 wickets for 78 runs.

However, Heberlein said he probably prefers batting.

If quick runs are needed he opens the batting, but usually comes in at five or six.

Heberlein is fast making an impression having only played the game for two years and tries to mould his game on his favourite player, Ricky Ponting.
