POLICE foiled a $14,000 robbery of a Rockhampton hotel this week after an alleged burglar jumped from the roof and injured his back while trying to escape.
Anthony Ross White, 34, appeared in Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday charged with entering a premises and stealing, but did not enter a plea.
He was refused bail by Magistrate Bronwyn Springer who deemed him an unacceptable risk of reoffending.
She also feared he would interfere with witnesses after the court heard his alleged co-offender was still at large.
Police had been called to the Kalka Hotel, North Rockhampton, just after 4am on Tuesday after a security alarm was activated. Upon arrival they saw White crouching on the roof.
Police Prosecutor Sergeant Brian Smith, in objecting to bail, alleged White was found in possession of $7458 cash.
A further $3691 was allegedly found in four money tins and a subsequent watchhouse search allegedly discovered another seven bags in White's trousers containing $3350.
Sergeant Smith said police were concerned that White was found armed with two throwing knives.
He was remanded in custody and will appear in court again on August 1.
