Ball just wouldn?t bounce

A LOT can change in a week ? just ask the Rockhampton Hog's Breath Cyclones women's basketball team.

Arriving into the weekend's Cavalier Corporation QABL Sunstate league round the Cyclones were coming off a confidence-building win over Northside Wizards, but at Mackay on Saturday night the wheels fell off in their big 85-37 loss to the Meteorettes.

No shot would drop, turnovers were excessive, team cohesion disappeared and there was no defensive intensity from the Cyclones.

Mackay are a class team and a chance to finish in the top two thanks to their ability to finish off shots and their aggressive offensive style.

The Cyclones must now regroup, and hopefully have a full complement at training during the week as they prepare for the southern triple-header road trip starting Friday night against Northside.

Full Time ? Mackay 85 (Tami Willey 33, Renae Read 21, Wendy Stafford 9) d Rockhampton 37 (Mandy Welch 13, Katrina Clifford 6, Sue James 4).

Quarter breakdown (Mackay/Rockhampton) ? (Q1) 23-4, (Q2) 24-14, (Q3) 23-4, (Q4) 15-15.
