Beach vehicle permits extended for six months

BEACH vehicle access permits on the Capricorn Coast are being extended.

Permits were due to expire on December 31, however Livingstone Shire Council has extended the temporary expiry date to June 30, 2006.

Livingstone Shire Council corporate and community services committee chairwoman Councillor Desley Rial said the extension meant people who have a current permit would not be required to obtain another permit until July 1, 2006.

"Any person or persons wishing to obtain a permit for the first time can do so under the present system, however, they will be restricted to the expiry date of June 30, 2006,'' Cr Rial said.
