Bell gives Qld strong lead to win relay title

YEPPOON Surf Life Saving Club's Miranda Bell is Australia's latest queen of the surf.

Bell, 13, continued her golden run at the Australian Interstate Championships at Queenscliff, NSW, yesterday.

The Rockhampton swim sensation guided the Queensland under-14 team to the cameron relay title ahead of hot favourites NSW and Victoria.

Entering her swim leg in third place, Bell surfaced from the water with a 20-metre lead to guide Queensland to the na- tional title.

Bell, competing in her first national carnival, also collected a silver medal in the team's relay and finished fifth in her swim event.

This latest success follows her 13 years 800m freestyle gold medal win at the Queensland Open and Age Swimming Championships in Brisbane last month.

Bell now has her sights on the Central Queensland Swimming Championships in March in Rockhampton before she tackles Noosa's Open Water Classic in May.
