Bichel heads country attack
By AARON KELLY
FORMER Australian fast bowler Andy Bichel will have no time between drinks this cricket summer.
Bichel is set to make a whirlwind visit to Rockhampton for the Suncorp XXXX Gold Bulls Country Challenge next weekend.
The 34-year-old will arrive home in Brisbane next Friday fresh from a stint with Hampshire in England before joining the Bulls' city and country squads in Rockhampton.
Bichel and left-arm speed machine Mitchell Johnson were yesterday named in the country side, which also includes Gladstone product Nathan Reardon, for a one-day match on September 10 followed by a Twenty20 game on September 11.
However, Johnson is on standby for Australia A's tour of Pakistan starting next week and he could join Bulls captain Jimmy Maher, who has linked with Durham, as a late omission.
The city squad includes the multi-talented Michael Buchanan, son of Australian coach John.
A former Queensland under-19 rugby union representative, Buchanan will fill the all-rounder's role for city.
