Bigger, brighter bush bash

BIGGER, brighter, better ? this year's Village Arts Festival at Farnborough has been an out-and-out success.

"This is certainly the biggest festival and best festival by far.

"It's been wonderful,'' event committee president Jenny Jones said yesterday.

"The participation by the crowds, people coming through the gates and the work and ethic of volunteers, and of course the amazing artists and performers ? it's been awesome.''

In the past the festival had struggled to attract the local community, but that trend appeared to have changed.

Also, 80 per cent of the performers and artist were from the local region, Ms Jones said.

The festival music began on Friday's cold night with a good crowd, and people continued streaming through the gates in fine weather on Saturday and yesterday, she said.

All music and workshop events were busy and booked out.

"Every little crevice was full of people participating and having fun.
