Brahmans get nod to go on the offensive

THE Rockhampton CSR Readymix Brahmans have been given a seal of approval to play some attacking 10s rugby this weekend.

The Brahmans, who have the round six bye in the Queensland Country Rugby Union Championships, were scheduled to meet Bundaberg in a trial at Rugby Park on Saturday night.

However, the match was cancelled yesterday, allowing players to return to their club sides for this weekend's annual Frenchville Rugby 10s at Ryan Park.

Brothers, University and hosts Frenchville Pioneers will have two teams in action at the preseason competition, with last year's Rockhampton and District Rugby Union A-grade and reserve grade premiers Colts, Dawson Valley Drovers and a Glendon side also competing.

Teams are chasing a piece of the $3000 in prizemoney.

The 2006 season starts on April 8, the same day the Brahmans travel to the Sunshine Coast for their final round game.
