Brian scatters field again

ROCKHAMPTON Emmaus College student Brian McLeod has continued his winning ways.

McLeod won the men's long course race (750m swim, 20km ride, 5km run) at the Sportsco/Tuckers Cycle Inn triathlon at Rydges Capricorn Resort yesterday.

The win capped off a successful week for McLeod who also collected a gold and silver medal in his 15 years boys 1500m (4:13.16) and 13-15 years boys 3000m (9:15.95) events respectively at last week's 2005 Queensland Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships in Brisbane.

McLeod led out of the swim by 15 seconds before extending his lead to 1 minute and 10 seconds at the end of the bike leg and eventually won the race by about 5 minutes from Rockhampton's Peter O'Shaughnessy and Yeppoon's Richard Goodger.

In the women's long course event Rockhampton policewoman Haylee Ford led from start to finish winning from Rockhampton's Sonya Murphy and Chris Galinovic.

The event drew 65 starters.
