Brothers build prowess
FROM the building site to the rugby union field, Rockhampton's McDouall brothers are proving a successful combination.
Cam, 22, and Mitch, 20, continue their rise in this year's Queensland Country Championships at Rockhampton's Rugby Park tomorrow night.
The young guns will line up at inside centre and wing respectively for the Rockhampton CSR Readymix Brahmans' round three clash against competition frontrunners the Gold Coast.
Both players are enjoying their first campaign with the Brahmans after standout performances for the Frenchville Pioneers in the Rockhampton and District Rugby Union (RDRU) Agrade competition last season.
However, as I discovered yesterday, the McDouall attacking team has been in action since the pair first joined forces for the Barraba under-10s in northern New South Wales more than a decade ago.
After consecutive losses to the Sunshine Coast and Townsville, Cam said the Brahmans had a perfect opportunity to chalk up their first win tomorrow night.
"We've played against the top two teams and we've just missed out. We've definitely got the ability to beat the Gold Coast.''
Brahmans coach Tom Moore has put Lee Anderson on standby for fly-half Fraser Booth, who suffered a shoulder injury in last weekend's 13-5 loss to Townsville.
