Brothers share festive spirit

LEADING into the festive season break Brothers have survived another close call to continue to lead the Southern Star Sports Shield 2005-06 A grade cricket season.

Playing at the Rockhampton Cricket Grounds on Saturday Brothers scored a first innings points win over Gracemere.

Chasing Gracemere's first innings total of 141 runs Brothers were eventually all out for 150 runs.

In the closing stages of the innings Gracemere needed one wicket and Brothers required two more runs to secure the eight points.

Gracemere would have been ruing several dropped catches during the match.

Leading the bowling assault for Gracemere was Biloela pace bowler Darren Fisher who finished with 4/36 (17 overs).

Fisher, fellow pace bowler Ryan Harth and wicketkeeper Steve Ball all travel from Biloela each weekend to play for Gracemere.

The win was a second close call for Brothers, chasing a seventh straight premiership.

Back in round four Brothers claimed first innings points over Cap Coast by just one run.

CQU Tigers won the points over Cap Coast.

Emerald's Shaun Richardson returned for Tigers with an unbeaten 27-run innings before the Tigers declaration.
