Bully throws weight behind beef expo

IT has been an interesting week this week with the furore about the possibility of Beef Australia relocating to Toowoomba after next year's event.

It just seems impossible to me that Australia's premier beef event could be held anywhere other than the Beef Capital of Australia ? Rockhampton.

It is an enormous boost to the region financially and in its potential to showcase the region to thousands of people who would otherwise never visit the area.

We, at The Bulletin, are throwing our weight 100% behind the event (and it ought to be obvious that I and others here like a bit of beef and have a few spare kilos to throw) and we are urging all other Rockhampton businesses to do the same.

Let's not let a few short-sighted people talk Geoff Murphy and the board of Beef Australia into taking our event away.

I spoke to Geoff earlier this week and he is passionate about Rockhampton and loves it here. Let's support him and keep this expo firmly here in Rockhampton.

n I ran into some very friendly people at the Yeppoon Golf Club at the weekend and it was great to hear their feedback that they are enjoying their new-look Bulletin.

On a completely separate (but equally important matter), there seems to be a problem with the 18th green that needs to be immediately corrected.

Somehow (unbelievably) I managed to take three putts from about three metres to lose the day.

Plenty of laughter from the winner and it appears I have easily translated my golfing prowess (or lack of it) from Mackay to Rockhampton.

n In Tuesday's paper on page 4 we ran pictures and email addresses of all our reporting team.

It is indeed a talented group of news breakers at The Bully who cover the Central Queensland region for our readers.

Each week there are more than 420 local stories and more than 570 local faces in your Bully.

That is on top of the hundreds of national, world and celebrity stories and pictures we run.

It is a fantastic cover; one of which we are very proud and we enjoy bringing it to you.
