Bunt serves it like Billie Jean King

ROCKHAMPTON'S Kirby Bunt is serving it up against the boys for a new challenge in the 2005 Head Central Queensland Junior Tennis Masters Circuit.

Bunt was crowned 17 years and under girls' champion after last weekend's round at Moura.

Bunt edged out fellow Rockhampton player Rebecca Cook in a marathon tie-break to clinch the decider.

Played in windy conditions, both players had to overcome the challenging wind factor in what proved that match of the tournament.

However, Bunt also joined the 17 years and under boys' singles draw ? placing third.

The 17 years and under boys' division belonged to Rockhampton's Matthew Krause.

Krause beat defeated arch-rival Dane McKinnon, of Rockhampton.

In the 15 years and under division, Rockhampton pair Kate Hartley and Rhett McKinnon were crowned girls' and boys' champions respectively.

Kayla Stevenson and Cory Jacobs also led the Rockhampton charge in the 13 years and under title hunt.

Other winners were: Jesse Douglas (11 years and under girls); Lindsay Adams (11 years and under boys); Kate Gregory (10 years and under girls); Reegan Brown (10 years and under boys).

The latest round attracted players from Hervey Bay, Gladstone, Rockhampton, Emerald and Biloela.
