Cap Coast students on a wave of success

THE combined team of Yeppoon's St Brendan's College and St Ursula's College have dominated the Central Queensland round of the Telstra Secondary School Surf League at Tannum Sands last Friday.

The Yeppoon schools were successful in taking out last week's carnival with 239 points ahead of Rockhampton Grammar School on 176 and Tannum Sands State High School on 122.

Leading the charge was Clancy Auriac (St Brendan's) and Marley Beaven (St Ursula's).

Auriac won the 16 years and over boys' surf race, board race and ironman events.

Beaven took out the 13 years girls' beach sprint and beach flags.

The age champions for the day were Miranda Bell (RGS, 13 years girls), Jacob Langdon (RGS, 13 years boys), Sarah Lowe (Gladstone SHS, 15 years girls), Christopher Blanchard (Yeppoon SHS, 15 years boys), Lucy Blanchard (Yeppoon SHS, 16 years and over girls) and Auriac (St Brendan's, 16 years and over boys).

More than 180 students competed in the annual event.
