Comets advertise executive's job
CENTRAL Comets chief executive officer Jamie Boon's future remains uncertain after the club yesterday publicly advertised his position.
The Comets have called for applications for its chief executive officer's position in today's Weekend Bulletin.
Comets chairman Rob Crow said a decision had been made to advertise the position after contractual negotiations with Boon had failed to reach an agreement.
"In the interests of sound management the board felt obliged to test the market with regard to the availability of suitable applicants within budgetary parameters be- fore making an appointment,'' Crow said yesterday.
Boon's contract expires on March 31 and applications for his position close on March 20.
The position will also be advertised on the QRL website and the rugby league bible ? Rugby League Week ? next week.
Crow said Boon was welcome to reapply for the job and was adamant he had not been sacked.
"There have been rumours going around that Jamie has been sacked but that's not true,'' Crow said.
Boon yesterday did not to want comment on his future.
Asked if he would reapply for the position, Boon said: "No comment.''
After more than a decade in the racing industry, Boon arrived at the Comets in 2002 and has played a major role in the club's NRL alignment with the North Queensland Cowboys.
