Composite teamwork delivers bowls trump card

A COMPOSITE team has come up trumps at this year's Hook An- derson Memorial Carnival at Rockhampton's Diggers Memori- al Bowls Club.

Diggers skip Harry Merry and Bill Wellings joined forces with North Rockhampton's Ken Rowe and Joe Doyle to clinch the men's fours title last weekend.

The leading quartet were the only side to finish the two-day event unbeaten with five wins and a margin of 38.

Another composite side from the quality 20-team field finished runner-up.

Victoria Park pair Fred Car- rington and Col James combined with Biloela's Damien Rideout and Mackay's Graham Cook to post four wins, one draw and a margin of 44.

The Brian Tiegs-skipped team were third on four wins and a margin of 22.
