CQ punters? hopes to run alongside Nessuno

By TONY McMAHON

BOOM Rockhampton sprinter Nessuno will carry the hopes of Central Queensland punters when he contests the $100,000 QRSE Avitt Handicap (1200m) at Eagle Farm, Brisbane on Saturday.

More so, Nessuno will carry hundreds of thousands of dollars in wagers Australia-wide, as he looks ideally placed among the 16 entries for the race.

Coming off an outstanding winter, Nessuno demonstrated in a Callaghan Park course proper grass gallop last week that he has maintained peak fitness.

Trainer John Wigginton set Nessuno for the Avitt some weeks ago after deciding to sidestep the Cleveland Bay Handicap in Townsville last Thursday.

Busy Rockhampton trainer Tony Crane has entered two of his stable's stars for the Eagle Farm meeting.

Crane has in-form Scandal Park listed among 31 other hope- fuls for the $50,000 NMW Handicap (1200m).

Crane has nominated his Thangool Cup winner Astroflash for the $40,000 NMW Handicap (1600m).

"I'll also nominate Astroflash for the Gladstone Cup on Saturday. He handles the sand track here (Callaghan Park) well. He has really settled in well since coming to my stables,'' Crane said. The $10,000 Gladstone Cup (1608m) heads a six-race program on the Ferguson Park sand track on Saturday.
