Dazzling play nets White top honour

? ROCKHAMPTON cricketer Preston White continues to hit winning runs.

The 16-year-old allrounder returned home this week after accepting the Ken Mackay Memorial Trophy for Queensland's Junior Cricket player of the year in Brisbane.

This award, judged by Queensland Junior Cricket, is not presented every year ? only when they uncover an outstanding candidate.

First awarded in 1983, past winners include Queensland Bulls players Stuart Law (1985) and Martin Love (1990), along with former ACT Brumbies rugby union star Mark Bartholomeusz (1993).

White, who has dreams of one day representing his country, is coming off a bumper 2005/06 season where he represented Queensland, Central Queensland, Rockhampton and Frenchville teams.
