Emerald riders lead field in CQ rounds of motocross

? EMERALD'S Michael Brooks claimed open honours at the Cen- tral Queensland Motocross Cham- pionships last weekend.

Brooks proved too strong for Mackay's Aaron Harman and third-placegetter Matt Dumigan, also of Mackay.

Some 215 riders enjoyed the well prepared, but muddy, track at Yeppoon's Coastal Park Motocross track on Saturday.

On Sunday, under clearer skies, Rockhampton's Six Mile track was the venue for round two.

Gordon Bellame capped off a good weekend for Emerald riders winning the CQ Formula division from Bundaberg's Mick Cambell and Bradley Purton, of Yeppoon.

Steve Dinsdale overcame fellow Mackay rider Trevor Creber to win the Masters division.

Rounds three and four are at Bi- loela and Gladstone on April 23 and 24.
