Emmaus and Brendan?s are winners



CENTRAL Queensland schools Emmaus College and St Brendan's College have displayed winning form in their Christian Brothers Cricket Week plate division matches in Brisbane yesterday.

Emmaus wicketkeeper Mitchell Horn proved a match winner against Shorncliffe (2) taking two catches and making a stumping and a run-out in Shorncliffe's short-lived 68-run innings.

Medium pacer Dominic Mills claimed 3/5.

In reply Emmaus reached the total at 0/72 with Preston White (52) and Ian Hotham (16) unbeaten at the crease.

St Brendan's made hard work of their win over Gregory Terrace (2). Chasing 66 runs St Brendan's reached the target at 7/67. Jarvis Black (3/6), Matthew Odell (2/12) and Gene Shaw (2/22) and Dylan Bibby chipped in with a brilliant diving one-hand catch in slips.

Jake Granville (13no) and Chris Brennan (10no) steered St Brendan's to victory.

Meanwhile at the Australian Country Cricket Championships in Mandurah, Western Australia, Queensland Country had a long day in the field with South-East Asia finishing at 7/297 off their 90 overs.

Play resumes today with South-East Asia to face a further five overs.
