Evans, Badham a winning pair

ROCKHAMPTON trainer Dave Badham has done it again.

Badham won the prestigious $57,000 Capricorn Sales 2YO Classic (1200m) when Deceiving charged home at Callaghan Park yesterday to provide his trainer with another victory on the Central Queensland juvenile scene.

Deceiving, ridden by leading Rockhampton jockey Dale Evans and sent out a $4.30 race favourite, held out the fast-finishing Lyle Rowe-trained pair Lazlo ($7.20) and Time To Star ($12.80) for a thrilling win.

An $18,500 Dodge-Rory's Delight colt offered at the Capricorn Yearling Sales in April last year, Deceiving has now won $65,050 from his five starts for owners Bill and Val Boys.

It also followed his upset victory in the XXXX Breeders Plate (1000m) in October.

However, in the last race yesterday the Alan Jones-trained Scandal Park ($8.20) broke the successful Badham/Evans combination in the QRSE Peter Boodle's Quality Meats Special Conditions Handicap (1200m).
