Every day is Valentine?s Day when it is true love
EVERY day together is like Valentine's Day for Shane Gibson and Monique Mitchell.
The pair are amongst hundreds of Rockhampton couples who will celebrate their first Valentine's Day together today.
"I can't reveal my plans or Monique won't get a surprise,'' Shane, a boiler maker at Leighton Mining, said yesterday.
Shane, 23, and Monique, 22, have been dating for six months.
"I love surprising Monique with dinner and gifts.
"My favourite is sending her flowers when I am out of town.''
Monique, who studies business at Rockhampton TAFE, said spending time together today is all that mattered.
"Every day together is like Valentine's Day.
"I'm not sure what he will do, I will be happy if it's like our first date. We drank lots and didn't eat our meal because we kept laughing and talking. And we haven't stopped yet.
I have something planned, but of course I can't say what it is either.''
Rockhampton Flowers owner Gina Horton said people weren't just buying their partners flowers this year.
"They're going all out with lingerie, bears and romantic poems,'' Ms Horton said.
"We also know of a few wedding proposals, including a very special lady who will be receiving a diamond ring in a bed of roses tomorrow,'' she said.
Mrs Horton revealed one poem to be attached to a lucky man's flowers today will read: "Be my Valentine for life, hurry up and make me a damn wife''.
