Feelers flow for gelding
GUN restricted-class sprinter Running Scared continued his decimation of Rockhampton lower-class races with another emphatic Callaghan Park win yesterday in sensational time.
Ridden for the first time by popular Gold Coast hoop Tony Pattillo, who incidentally scored a winning treble at the meeting, Running Scared dominated the Class 4 (1300m) from the moment the field jumped.
Always in command, the Magic Millions Lion Hunter purchased galloper, scored by 3.75 lengths in a 1minute16.47 seconds for the distance, better time than many an open company horse has registered in winning over that trip.
"Feelers'' are already surfacing to buy Running Scared from his Kabra owners Clive and Ellen Large who have now enjoyed five wins with the grey three-year-old gelding from his only six racetrack appearances.
Ellen Large is a member of the syndicate that races another promising winner from yesterday's seven-race card in the Darryl Hansen trained Role Of Ned who easily won the Class 2 (1400m).
Role Of Ned (Langfuhr(CAN)Princess Reene(NZ) x Zabeel) has now won three of his only four starts and should continually improve as Hansen races him over longer journeys.
First-up specialist Koala (Shayla Quick) enhanced his astonishing "fresh'' record when he returned to racing a winner for new trainer Dave Vale in the Open Handicap (1000m).
Koala with only 30 starts alongside his name is lightly raced for a six-year-old but hhas won five times from seven runs "first-up''.
