Few lining up to play CQ open cricket

CENTRAL Queensland's open cricket ranks are thin on the ground with the opening round of the North Queensland Championships just around the corner.

The Rockhampton Cricket Grounds will host the opening round between Central Queens-land and Mackay/Whitsunday open, under-19 and under-17 teams on October 15 and 16.

At Central Queensland's last training run in Rockhampton the only open squad members to attend were Gladstone's Dan Williams and the team's player/coach, Central Queensland's new regional cricket manager Sean Toovey.

Rockhampton's Todd Wells and Jason Batchelor had North Queensland commitments in Townsville that weekend.

The final selection training session is in Gladstone on October 2.
