Former champs to roll into reunion

FORMER champions are gearing up for the Rockhampton Cycling Club's "50 years and still rolling'' reunion next week.

The celebrations swing into action on Friday night with the 50 year reunion meet at the Kenrick Tucker Velodrome.

A reunion dinner will be held at the Brothers Leagues Club next Saturday night.

In 1960, the inaugural Rockhampton Cup on Wheels was run and won by John McMaster.

The following year, the first Ca- pricornia Cup (women's wheelrace) was won by Carol Ball, now Carol Wood.

Both riders, along with past and present cyclists from as far abroad as the Northern Territory and Tasmania, will be taking the trip down memory lane.

Other former Rockhampton Cycling Club champions returning are Greg Shuker, the club's first Australian champion in 1967 in the under-17 men's sprint, and the Tucker brothers ? Byron, Kenrick and Russell.

Tickets can be purchased from all local bike shops for $20.
