Fossett?s dressage sends message

ALTON Downs' Kirstie Fossett continues to go from strength to strength.

After fulfulling Australian team commitments in New Zealand earlier this year Fossett, 18, has now broken into the Queensland team after winning the novice division dressage title at the Pony Club Association of Queensland 2005 State Dressage, Combined Training and Horse Trial Champion- ships at Rockhampton's Paradise Lagoon yesterday.

Fossett's golden performance was just one of several highlights for Central Queensland with the Zone 27 riders combining to win the zone State title ahead of Zone 7 (Maryborough) and Zone 10 (Mackay).

Crompton Park's Alicia Bridgeman won the preliminary group two gold medal and Yeppoon's Maddison Rhodes won the under-11 dressage.

Zone 27's silver medallist was Alton Downs' Holly-Jo Pye (11 and under-13 group one) while bronze medallists were Alton Downs' Zoe Spencer (under-11), Yeppoon's Alice Leeson (11 and under-13 group 2), Crompton Park's Alexandra Purcell (pre- liminary group one), Crompton Park's Fallyn Doblo (prelimi- nary group two) and Crompton Park's John Syme (novice).

"There'll be a lot of happy families around CQ,'' Fossett said.

Fossett, riding Mystic Magic, led the field after Tuesday's opening rounds and held on to win by just 0.8% from South- port's Rachel Morland.

"I'm feeling on top of the world,'' Fossett said.

The titles continue at Paradise Lagoon today with com- bined training followed by a oneday event tomorrow before the cross-country competition heads to Alton Downs on Saturday morning.
