Gail to cook up a storm to mark Shrove Tuesday

ROCKHAMPTON'S Gail Walker plans to have stacks of fun during today's Pancake Tuesday activities.

For the third consecutive year, Ms Walker will join in the celebrations at Rockhampton High School, where Uniting Care is holding a Pancake Day.

As one of a handful of volunteers she will help cook hundreds of pancakes for the students and anyone else who heads along. "It's sure to be busy,'' Ms Walker said yesterday.

"Last year we had a pancake eating contest and while I was too busy out the back making them to know who won and how many they were eating, it sounded like they were all having fun.''

She said everyone was welcome to head along to the Pancake Day, which runs from 7.30am to 8.45am.

Meanwhile in other events today, Rockhampton's The Cathedral College will host the launch of this year's Project Compassion Appeal through Caritas Australia.

This will involve a traditional pancake bake-off between the four College houses.

A number of Catholic dignitaries will attend.
