'Hospital to stay where it is - the best place
HE HAS talked with the new Queensland Health Minister and Paul Hoolihan is adamant Yeppoon Hospital will remain where it is.
The Member for Keppel talked with Stephen Robertson and his senior advisers even before he was sworn in to replace out-going Health Minister Gordon Nuttall.
The new Minister had not looked at all the document and was unable to make any decisions on the matter, Mr Hoolihan said.
Livingstone Shire Council (LSC) wants a new hospital built on another site, claiming among other things that the present coastal location was at risk from storm surges.
"I haven't asked him (Mr Robertson) to place it at another site,'' Mr Hoolihan said. "The site there is perfect and suits the majority of people on the coast.
"The bottom line is for me, and it is the bottom line, everything being done by the LSC and this holding things up, is denying the residents of the Capricorn Coast a hospital they deserve.
