Hosts collect trifecta

ROCKHAMPTON Bowls Club teams have produced a trifecta in the 2005 Capricornia Credit Union Prestige Fours Carnival.

The Frank Harris-skipped team of Jack Robinson, Jim Ross and Ray Cavanagh led the host club's title charge last weekend.

Cavanagh said the club's success in the $3000 tournament was long-awaited.

"They're like race horses, wins are very few and far between,'' Cavanagh said.

Joel Plumb, Neville Johnson, Barry Harvey and Jeff Slater finished runner-up ahead of fellow Rockhampton bowlers Bernie Gottke, Brian Hedges, Kev Walz and Norm Diplock.

Defending champions Victoria Park finished out of the final placings.

The annual men's fours event, now in its 23rd year, attracted 16 teams.
