Hot? You should try it up here

By MEGAN LEWIS,

ROCKHAMPTON builder Christian Lucas reckons it doesn't get much hotter than this.

Working on The Rocks building site on Rockhampton's Victoria Parade yesterday, Mr Lucas said Rockhampton's climate was the hottest he had ever worked in. "I reckon it's about 40 degrees up on that deck,'' Mr Lucas said.

"It doesn't get much hotter than this really.''

Mr Lucas said he beat the heat by drinking about four litres of water a day.

He said he also tried to get an early start to avoid the heat, knocking off about 3pm.

Mr Lucas said while there would be hotter jobs than his, he believed Rockhampton's humidity was the real killer.

"Out west in the mines would have to be hotter, but it's just so humid here.
