I just cannot wait for Qantas? flights

PAUL Egberts is more than excited about QantasLink's announcement this week that it will significantly expand services to Rockhampton.

The Brisbane businessman has travelled to the Beef Capital once every six weeks for over two years.

"I think it's great,'' he said as he waited for a friend to pick him up at the Rockhampton Airport Terminal.

"Personally, a lot of the flights don't suit when I travel.

"So it will be good to put some extra flights in.''

A new aircraft, the 72 seat "Bombardier Q400'' comes into service in the coming months, and will increase seats from Brisbane to Rockhampton by 16 per cent.

Qantas executive general manager for regional airlines, Narendra Kumar, said the first of the new aircraft had arrived in Brisbane in preparation for service on February 26.

"We are dedicating five of QantasLink's total order of seven new Q400s to Queensland,'' he said.

Mr Egberts agreed with Mr Kumar, saying extra flights would be extremely beneficial to his business travel commitments to Cairns from Rockhampton in the future.

"I have to fly back to Brisbane to get to Cairns,'' he explained.

"I just don't have seven hours to wait at the airports.
