By JOSEPH TERNOWETSKY

THE grand-opening of Supa IGA today may kick off a price war among supermarkets.

And bargain hunters can expect better deals and lower prices due to the added competition in Rockhampton.

Steve Duggan part-owner of the new IGA store said his prices will be the lowest in town.

"We will not be beaten on price,'' he said.

"Customers will have an exceptional shopping experience.''

The store, which is on Farm Street, employs over 150 people and Mr Duggan said the company would be an active part of the Rockhampton community .

By press time yesterday competitors such as Tancred Fresh, Woolworths and Coles were not available for comment.
