Jade will showcase talent on Gold Coast

By TAMARA KEMP

FROM 42nd Street to Jupiters Casino, Jade McMahon is making a pointe about her passion for dancing.

The 16-year-old Rockhampton Grammar School student was one of 30 dancers selected from around the nation to perform in the dancing event of the year, Showcase, at Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast in January.

She said she could not wait to hit the stage on the Gold Coast.

"I have been dancing since I was four-years-old and really love performing,'' she said.

"I love Rockhampton too for its opportunities, its people and lovely heritage.''

Jade described her performance in 42nd Street as "amaz- ing fun. The people were great to get along with and I loved the performances,'' she said.

But her busy dancing schedule does not stop there. Jade is set for Paris at the end of next year to dance at the renowned Moulin Rouge.

While it is still unknown what role she will play, she said she had always idolised Nicole Kidman for her unforgettable role in the 2001 film.

"I admire her because she used to do dance when she was younger and she works hard in what she does,'' she said.

Jade moved to Rockhampton when she was 14 and has polished her dancing with Lita Hegvold Dance Academy.

She was awarded most outstanding classical dancer and most promising jazz performer in the Rockhampton Dance Festival.
