Key strike weapon

ROCKHAMPTON netballer Marni Shephard will again be a key strike weapon when her Buckaneers Blades team hits the Jardine Park courts tomorrow night.

Shephard was instrumental in Buckaneers' victory in the Senior A division at the Rockhampton Netball Association's annual Sullivan's Carnival at Jardine Park on Sunday.

Named best and fairest for that division Shephard was again valuable in the circle defence and will again be needed when Buckaneers resume their club fixtures tomorrow night against Pumas Midnight, the team they beat 26-13 in the Sullivan's Senior A division final.

In other Senior A games, Wanderers will be out to return to their winning ways against Angels Saints while Runaways Diamonds face Brothers Crimson.

This year's Sullivan's Carnival attracted 62 teams from Rockhampton, the Capricorn Coast, Gladstone district, Blackwater and Biloela.

Taking out this year's Sullivan Shield, for the best goal average, was the Blackwater H grade team with 200%.

The Rockhampton Netball Association has lost several members to cancer over the past years and at this year's carnival raised $540 for the Queensland Cancer Fund.
