Kinka Beach abuser jailed

A KINKA Beach man has been jailed for 10 years for sexually abusing his son and brother-in-law when they were children.

On Tuesday afternoon, the man, who cannot be identi- fied, was convicted in Cairns District Court of indecent dealing and sodomy, The Cairns Post newspaper re- ported.

The court heard the man had started abusing his then 12-year-old brother-in-law in 1971 until he turned 17 and moved out of his house.

In 1978, the court heard the defendant had committed the majority of the sodomising charges on his son, who was eight years old at the time. Both of the complainants are now in Cairns.

Judge Sarah Bradley said both men had regarded him as their father.

Judge Bradley recommend- ed the man be eligible for pa- role in three years.

She recommended that he serve his sentence at Capri- cornia Correctional Centre near Rockhampton.
