Lead slips through net

CAP Coast let a three-goal lead slip through their fingers in their 3-all draw against Frenchville in their Capricornia Soccer League round 12 clash at Apex Park on Saturday night.

The draw also relinquished Frenchville's outright lead and they are now joint leaders with CQU Berserker with the two clubs set to clash in a grand final replay at Frenchville's Ryan Park this Saturday night.

Cap Coast burst out of the blocks on the weekend to a 3-0 lead with Jack Frahm opening after 10 minutes before brothers Keiran and Martin Ohl slotted the host club's next two goals.

It was a great start for the Ohl brothers who are regular second-graders with Martin making his first division debut against Frenchville.

However, it was not enough to stop the experienced Frenchville outfit with Nick Barker and Dane Howard striking back late in the first half before Clayton Rowland scored the winning goal with a free kick with 10 minutes left in the game.

Cap Coast coach Shaun Janes said the result was typical of the way his team had been playing this season.

"We're playing well, but not winning games,'' Janes said, after his team's five drawn contests this year.

It was still a promising result for Cap Coast who are missing Scott Woodford (knee), Christian Brasserio (hamstring) and Masa Taki (Japan).

BITS suffered a 4-0 loss to Nerimbera Brothers in Gladstone, pushing them two places down while Bluebirds United kept finals hopes alive with a 2-0 win over Clinton in Gladstone on Saturday.

Round 13 (July 2) ? Bluebirds United v Nerimbera Brothers (Webber Park), Southside United v Cap Coast (Jardine Park), Central v Parkana (Central), BITS v Clinton (BITS), Frenchville v CQU Berserker (Ryan Park)
