Local pineapple growers have a say

YEPPOON pineapple growers' input has been included in a manual to improve production and profits.

Primary Industries and Fish-eries Minister Henry Palaszczuk launched a best practice manual at the pineapple industry's annual field day at the Sunshine Coast on Friday.

Growers from Wamuran, Glasshouse, Beerwah, Wide Bay, Yeppoon, and North Queensland were involved in the production of the publication, designed to give growers a reference to recommended prac-tices for each part of pineapple production.

"This is the first time that a complete pineapple growing manual has been attempted for the industry,'' he said.

"The manual is designed so that it can inexpensively be updated when accepted best practices are improved.
