Lucy?s leaving

ROCKHAMPTON jockey Lucy Timson will make her farewell appearance at Callaghan Park races today where she has two rides on the small four-race card.

Timson will ride outsiders Tariq's Bluff ($21.00) in the Coal Service Delivery Maiden Plate (1000m) as well as King's Mirror ($9.00) in the QR National Class 1 (1100m).

Next week Timson and her partner, the Rockhampton-based trainer Shane Brown, will leave for New South Wales where Brown has acquired work outside racing.

"We will be based at West Wyalong and I will probably be out of racing for the time being," Timson said.

During her apprenticeship, Tim-son achieved outstanding success on Central Queensland tracks but like so many senior jockeys in this region, she has struggled against the weight of "fly-in" jockeys to attract worthwhile patronage at Rockhampton TAB race meetings.

A dedicated and reliable early morning trackwork rider at Callaghan Park, the legacy of her departure will be another serious void in Capricornia jockeys ranks with the result being further disruption to training sessions.

Former top hoop, Mark Barnham, another early moring absentee through a career change, has a grand winning chance today on the Dallas Powell-trained Flash For Cash, the $3.00 favourite in the opening race at 1.58pm.

Flash For Cash has been placed at his last three starts and has the ideal credentials for the race.
