Mahon sisters go far but always close in spirit

ROCKHAMPTON'S Mahon sisters, Kristie and Rachel, don't get too much time to catch up with each other.

They support each other's sporting events whenever their own time allows. Be- tween now and November one of the girls will be away each month competing.

Kristie, 16, has returned home after representing Aus- tralia in athletics at the Cere- bral Palsy World Champion- ships in the US.

The youngest in the field, her best result was second in long jump ? breaking the Australian under-18 record.

Kristie's younger sister Ra- chel, 14, is another high achiever on the squash court. Rachel will represent the Queensland 15 years squash team at this year's national titles and will also represent the Queensland Secondary Schools team later this year.
