Malone captures CQ title

IT WAS a new name, but familiar face who claimed last month's 2005 Central Queensland Ladies Open Championship at the Yeppoon Golf Club.

Yeppoon's Nyree Malone, formerly Nyree Drillis, carded a 157 (80, 77) to win the 36-hole event by five strokes from Rydges Capricorn Resort's Raylee Oates (162).

Malone made her move on the second day with a 77 after Yeppoon's Trish Delaforce set the pace on the opening day with a 78 round.

Delaforce (145) won the nett from Lesley Wilson (149). Former Emerald golfing buddies Martine Kendall, now of Rydges, and Trudy Morgan, of Emerald, combined to win this year's Central Queensland Ladies Foursomes Championship.

Kendall and Morgan combined to card an 86 gross and win the title by four strokes from Yeppoon's Delaforce and Kerry Rhodda (90).
